How To Romanticize Your Life

I wrote this post with love and intention and because I love sharing tips and tricks with the world. It may contain relevant affiliate links that give me a small commission at no additional cost to you if you make purchases with them. Thank you all for the love and support!

On my morning walk, I was listening to the Straight Up With Stassi podcast, and she had Lex Nicoleta as a guest on from Tic Tok (I actually don’t even have an account! Should I download it?), and the entire episode was about romanticizing your life and how important that is, and I loved the idea!

It is something I have been trying to do more of the past year or so, with small little changes in my daily routine.

What does it mean to romanticize your life anyway?

Romanticizing your life means taking the time to appreciate the little day-to-day things, no matter how mundane they same seem.

It is about noticing the beauty around you.

It is about stopping to smell the roses and getting off our phones.

It is about having “main character energy.”

That may sound cringe to some, but if you think about it, you really SHOULD BE the main character in your own life.

Everyday you should be doing at least one thing that is just for you and no one else.

Romanticizing your life is not about making huge changes, but about noticing the smaller moments of happiness.

When I do my morning walk, I try to make sure I am looking around at the nature around me, as corny as that sounds. I love to see the hummingbirds flying around and maybe seeing a butterfly float by. I try not to look at my phone at all on my walk (besides maybe adjusting the volume or changing a song/podcast).

I feel like it kind of defeats the purpose of your walk if you are just looking down at your phone screen the entire time! We all spend too much time on our phones as it is, right?

Romanticizing your life is also about trying to bring in small things that make you happy or make you smile in your daily routine.

Eucalyptus leaves Kimberly Tanimoto Yoga

It could be placing eucalyptus leaves in your shower. It could be using a super cute vintage tea set for your morning coffee or tea. It also could be buying a milk frother on Amazon and taking the time to whip up the milk like a coffee shop would.

I bought this one recently and love it! I use it almost everyday for my morning coffee and even to mix up some hot chocolate.

Would you like some easy ideas to try to start romanticizing your life?

Here are 15 simple ways to romanticize your life today

1). Take the time to drink your coffee (or tea) in the morning instead of rushing through it. This is where your new frother can come in handy ?

2). Buy some fresh flowers and display them nicely in your kitchen or on your dining table. Flowers really liven up a home and also smell amazing!

3). Wear some cute matching pjs to bed. Amazon is a great place to find some cute sets for cheap! I also love Nordstroms sets as well. I got this set from Amazon and I love it! It’s perfect for the summer to lounge around in at home or to sleep in.

4). Read a book outside at your local park, or maybe even in your backyard in the sun. Bonus points for getting your book from the library ?

5). Put on some music in the morning and have a dance party in your kitchen. You can even get your significant other or your kids to join in on the fun! I think upbeat music in the morning can really set the tone for the day and create a mindset that today is going to be a good day.

6). Print out some pictures and finally display them in your home! So many of us have thousands of photos on our phones, but never take the time to print them and display them. The past couple of years I have started buying cute frames and love to display pictures of our wedding, our engagement photos, and even just Eli and I hiking and having a good time with friends. It is such a fun reminder to look at everyday as you walk by.

7). Have a solo lunch or dinner with yourself! Why don’t you pick a restaurant you have been wanting to try and have your favorite meal. Bring a book along with you so you don’t have to stare at your phone all night.

8). Have a detox bath. Draw a bath with some Epson salts, oils, light some candles, and play some relaxing music. I also love to put on a face mask while I relax

9).  Wear beautiful clothes. I do not know about you, but if I take the time to look good, then I typically feel good too! If I am dressed like a slob, then I will typically feel like a slob. It is totally mental, but it really does make a difference in your mental health. Even if you are just staying home all day, why not put on some cute athleisure wear? You don’t have to spend hours getting ready, just throw on a cute top, some leggings or joggers, and a pair of sneakers you love and you are good to go! My favorite brands are Lululemon and Vuori, but Amazon also has tons of amazing sets and workout clothes for a fraction of the price. You don’t have to spend $100 on leggings if you don’t want to! There are tons of other options out there.

10). Make your water special. Stop drinking boring, plain water, and make it exciting! Plain water is not very hydrating anyway because the filtration process removes most of the minerals that we need. I always add lemon and Himalayan salt to mine, but the options really are endless. You could make an infused cucumber water, you could act electrolytes and collagen, or whatever else sounds good to you.

11). Make your bed every morning. It really only takes a few minutes, and makes your bedroom look so much nicer! People have even written books on the power of making your bed every day.

When you make your bed it looks so much better than when it’s messy like this! ?

12). Hang eucalyptus in your shower. This really does turn your shower into a spa like experience! I think it helps reduce stress and I love the smell it gives off. A eucalyptus steam shower is a great way to start your day.

13). Make a “Main Character Energy” Playlist on Spotify. Make a playlist with all of your favorite empowering and uplifting songs as a soundtrack to your life. You could listen to this on your morning walks, or even just while you are cleaning and doing chores around your house. If you need some ideas, there are plenty of playlists on Spotify and YouTube that you can steal from.

14). Make a vision board. Instead of making a vision board for your goals in life, why not make a board for all of the ways you can add beauty and happiness to your life?

15). Create a morning or evening routine (or both), and romanticize the shit out of it! If a morning routine sounds too hectic for you right now, then an evening routine can be a good place to start. You can create some kind of wind down routine that you do at night before bed that will relax you and set you up for the next day! It could be watching your favorite show or movie, having some tea, running a bath, reading a book, or maybe lighting the fireplace or firepit and relaxing by the fire. Relaxing by the fire with my husband and some music is one of my favorite things to do on a chilly night. We like to bundle up with some cozy blankets and enjoy a small glass of wine while we talk.

There are SO many small things you can do on a daily basis to romanticize your life and bring more joy into the “mundane” things.

What would you add to the list?
